So often on a boat, the most awkward jobs are in confined spaces where you can't get your head in to see what's going on; trying to undo fixings behind an inner lining or working in the engine bay for example. Builders and mechanics, even somebody who's trying to locate something behind the washing machine, experience the same problem.

The solution - a flexible fibre optic viewer - has been around for some time, but costing thousands of pounds; this simplified version is easier to use, but just as effective and only a fraction of the price. The thin flexible tube protects a bundle of fibre optic cables, of which some carry light to illuminate where you are looking, and the others carry the image back to the eyepiece. The picture is very clear, giving a 40 degree field of view at a range from ¾" to 12".

A 90-degree mirror fitting (included) further increases the field of view and offers extra versatility.
